Rather than creating a Mixology Monday cocktail, we're dedicating this post-St. Patrick's Day Monday to getting you back on your feet. We're compiling a list of some of the most successful hangover tonics!
Liquid Liftoff:
Water: Before you go popping Aleve, Advil, or Tylenol we suggest you try some water to get that headache simmering down. Alcohol dehydrates the body, so try water first and foremost!
Juice: Any fruit juice can be the trick, but we prefer to go with Cranberry juice. Cranberry acts as a natural detox and replenishes those sugars and electrolytes that Alcohol is known for killing. For a better result take our Früzen Cranberry Ice with water for an outstanding effect.
Chamomile: By now chamomile tea should be a part of your daily diet. It calms you down and is the perfect aid for natural sleep. Chamomile not only calms your mind, but your stomach! The next time your kissing porcelain, make it a teacup full of Chamomile!
Nom Nom Nourishment:
Bananas: Potassium in this fruit will help relieve nausea or cramps that have been associated with hangovers forever. If you're like us and don't like mushy-mushy that bananas tend to have, throw them in a blender with some yogurt and Früzen Strawberry Ice for a delicious smoothy!
Beans on Toast: Personally, we've never tried this, but friends have told us this is a miracle when it comes to hangovers. The fiber and folic acid found in beans, combined with proteins, combat your negative energy and aid your recovery.
Pickles: It is not necessarily the pickle that cures the hangover, more so it's the pickle juice which has a high amount of sodium and vinegar. The shock of sodium to your body will simply rush all of your fluids into your body, re-hydrating you. Double fist those pickles and you'll be feeling better in no time!
Quinoa: This is a miracle-grain that was first cultivated by the Incas over 3000 years ago! Quinoa was forgotten by most, but has recently regained popularity throughout the country. This nutrient-packed super-grain is filled with vitamins and amino acids that will have you back on your feet!
Asparagus: Asparagus is packed with amino acids and antioxidants that wash over that hangover. Don't mind the smell of your urine, it's way better than your vom!
Chemical Concoction:
Alka-Seltzer: We prefer you try the natural remedies first, but if you can't seem to get over your hangover, try Alka-Seltzer. This brand has a specific "morning relief" that attacks your hangover, but any kind will do. Alka-Seltzer contains sodium bicarbonate, which neutralizes stomach acid, and aspirin that tackles your headaches. This is a cure-all for hangovers. "Pop pop, fiz fiz, oh what a relief it is" never seemed so true.
If none of these things worked, try a glass full of our Früzen Ice cubes to brighten your days!
After all, mind over matter!
We hope you enjoyed this special edition of Mixology Mondays, and may your recovery be swift!
